We will be drawing ourselves in mirrors.
My mirrors are small ovals. If you have a larger one you might be more comfortable drawing from, please bring it to class.
I will explain and demonstrate the basic proportions of our faces.
I will point out a few common mistakes that will make this easier for you.
You will be surprised at your success with a bit of knowledge!
Self portraits have been historically used as signatures, projections of self, and as narratives. Gothic architects sometimes snuck statues of themselves in cathedrals. Renaissance artists projected themselves at a more elevated social status with the intention of attracting the attention of more wealthier clients.
