"Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair." Kahlil Gibran

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012!

Play a little
Frivolous play time. Investigation of the color RED!
My daughter, Mem's, awesome red satin heels.
She fell in love with them on the shelves of DSW - had to have them!
Finding something suitable to wear with these proved a challenge.
They are stunning and a color theory lesson in RED

Hope your holidays were full of frivolous red fun!

"Caravaggio, a Life Sacred and Profane"
by Andrew Graham-Dixon
My next read. What a character!
Check out wikipedia for a really great show of his work.

Diane Andrews Hall  Wonderful seascapes in oil
Painting is really about the physics of light!

David Imlay  Fine artist and illustrator
I am quite drawn to his dog portraits
Especially the Dauchshund in a turban.
By looking at his landscapes as thumbnails you will notice his exquisite sense of design. Great illustrators make you look from across the room!

Sandow Birk  If you went to Art Miami you could not resist gawking at his etching named, "Monument to the Constitution of The United States."
Birk makes statements on social issues.
He is a story teller in multi media.
I respect him because he can draw and comes up with clever concepts that make you think.
Check out his "Ninety Nine Names of God."
This is an artist who THINKS!
YOU REALLY NEED TO SEE THESE WORKS IN PERSON!

Bong Chae Son Intriguing mix of traditional painting and modern materials.
Layers of polycarbonate in front of LED panels.
Images mysteriously morph as you walk around the work.
This artist has taken traditional training to a modern level.
Absolutely engrossing!

Come to the Boca Museum's ARTY PARTY!

Peggy Probably the hardest part of making art is to show your soul.  It has been said that the first 20 seconds of a drawing or painting set the mood for the next 20 hours. Gesture is everything. It is not so much how long a piece might take but when you made it.  Last weekend I went to Art Wynwood and saw  a lot of very marketable  artwork. After leaving, my friend, Susan Megur asked me what piece stuck in my mind. I could not answer that question. What a shame.  Make your art like it is part of your soul. Find what it is about something that you make that moves you. Make it about emotion, politics, color or just plain beauty. Anything that makes you and your viewer move from their comfort zone of visual boredom .  Cool artists of the week: Sybelle Peretti works with transparent glass images. Stops me in my tracks! SINGAPORE BIENNALE 2016

Lucky me. I arrived in Singapore to find their Biennale in the Singapore Art Museum and other Museums and institutions around town. It has been a great introduction to the Southeast Asian geography and culture. Many visits have pulled me out of an extreme state of jet lag and whetted my appetite to learn more about Southeast Asia. Singapore Biennale AN ATLAS OF MIRRORS - AT ONCE, MANY WORLDS "In charting our way around the world, humankind has relied on instruments of vision as well as navigation. Atlases map and mirror our journeys of discovery and often make visible more than just physical terrain; driven by our needs and desires, they embolden us to venture into the unknown. From our coordinates in Southeast Asia, the arc of our shared histories encompasses East and South Asia. These regions bear the imprints of one another's diverse cultures, even as boundaries are also constantly reimagined. Fraught and unstable, these borders are characterized by fluid mo...
