Figure Drawing ArtServe Dance Studio 10 - 12 Monday


Marcia will be our model. She is angular and holds completely still. Judy will be bringing a large umbrella to pose behind her. This should make for interesting compositions against the mirrors.

We will start with our traditional short gestures. I will encourage you to make only 5 to 6 strokes. We will emphasize movement and the balance of weight.

I am bringing in some powdered charcoal for experimentation. Use a brush and your eraser to draw bold shapes. I will re emphasize the use of sighting and units of measure.

The setting of our model will make you consider the space around her. An umbrella and some dark material with lighting will help you see the model in space.

SINGAPORE BIENNALE 2016

Lucky me. I arrived in Singapore to find their Biennale in the Singapore Art Museum and other Museums and institutions around town. It has been a great introduction to the Southeast Asian geography and culture. Many visits have pulled me out of an extreme state of jet lag and whetted my appetite to learn more about Southeast Asia. Drawing Class March 4, 2010

FINALLY!!!! Hands Hands Hands I will show you the anatomy of your lower arms, wrist and hands. You will understand the underlying basic shapes and proportions of your wrist, thumb and fingers. I will bring some of my anatomy books with incredible drawings. Please bring your sketchbooks, pencils and erasers and some tracing paper. I will bring a roll if you don't have any for class. Find pictures in magazines or photos of hands. Bring them to class. Try to find foreshortened views. (Yes, that F word!) We will be finding the shapes in the photos. You will be tracing the anatomy so you understand it when you observe your own hands. You are your best model. Perfect sketchbook fodder. Waiting for anything will never be boring again!
