ONE LOVE
Demo of the day:
Value, monochromatic painting and the power of underpainting.

Handout: Anatomy of a shadow.

Weekly Pigment: Cadmium Yellow Light

Come with the materials you have. We will evaluate where you are and where you want to go with your paintings. I will help you plan out your ideas and show you what happens when you manipulate the shapes and values for success.

Cool Artists for this week:

Adrian Gottlieb
Mr. Gottlieb has written a wonderful article about Verdaccio in "The Artists Magazine" this month.
Verdaccio is a green underpainting for flesh tones.
Grisalle is a grey underpainting or a value painting under color.
These are great ways to explore the value of color and temperature shifts.
Absolutely stunning oil paintings.
Make sure to look at the landscapes as well as the portraits.

Ingat Ignatov
Painterly oil paintings. He describes his subjects with a loose, expressive stroke.
His work is fresh because it is not overworked.
Knowledge of color and materials make fresh bold decisions.
Notice his subject matter. The frying pan with sunny side up eggs.
You will never be bored again!
