COUNTERFEIT! Done!

It shimmers!
Silver, gold and copper point drawing on black gesso boards. Copper leaf on the sides....it shimmers and disappears if you look at it the wrong way. Similar to our investments.
Sides are gilded with copper and mounted .75" off the surface inside a black box.

"The symbols on our currency were selected to illustrate our democratic capitalist society. Our nation’s recent unethical financial decisions have mocked their meaning. A redesigned currency might consist of bubbles, credit card swipes and distorted patterns.

Images drawn with silver, gold and copper shimmer on black. Slight angular shifts of light render them first visible, then invisible. Could this visual game be synonymous with the state of our economy?"

"If someone says, "can't," that shows you what to do" John Cage

Peggy Probably the hardest part of making art is to show your soul.  It has been said that the first 20 seconds of a drawing or painting set the mood for the next 20 hours. Gesture is everything. It is not so much how long a piece might take but when you made it.  Last weekend I went to Art Wynwood and saw  a lot of very marketable  artwork. After leaving, my friend, Susan Megur asked me what piece stuck in my mind. I could not answer that question. What a shame.  Make your art like it is part of your soul. Find what it is about something that you make that moves you. Make it about emotion, politics, color or just plain beauty. Anything that makes you and your viewer move from their comfort zone of visual boredom .  Cool artists of the week: Sybelle Peretti works with transparent glass images. Stops me in my tracks! SINGAPORE BIENNALE 2016

Lucky me. I arrived in Singapore to find their Biennale in the Singapore Art Museum and other Museums and institutions around town. It has been a great introduction to the Southeast Asian geography and culture. Many visits have pulled me out of an extreme state of jet lag and whetted my appetite to learn more about Southeast Asia. Singapore Biennale AN ATLAS OF MIRRORS - AT ONCE, MANY WORLDS "In charting our way around the world, humankind has relied on instruments of vision as well as navigation. Atlases map and mirror our journeys of discovery and often make visible more than just physical terrain; driven by our needs and desires, they embolden us to venture into the unknown. From our coordinates in Southeast Asia, the arc of our shared histories encompasses East and South Asia. These regions bear the imprints of one another's diverse cultures, even as boundaries are also constantly reimagined. Fraught and unstable, these borders are characterized by fluid mo...
